As a clinical-theoretical cross-sectional subject with the broadest analytical expertise, Clinical Chemistry is expressly committed to supporting medical research at the University Medical Centre Mannheim.
Accordingly, we combine the excellent, high-quality diagnostics of a fully accredited medical laboratory with the analytical possibilities in the areas of basic scientific, translational and clinical research. We are always open to enquiries and advice, as well as scientific collaborations.
Research groups
The scientific interests of the Institute of Clinical Chemistry lie in
- the pathobiochemistry of malignant growth
- new diagnostic methods for the early detection of tumour recurrence and therapy resistance in the blood and their quality assurance
- the characterisation of immunological recognition mechanisms by cells of the innate immune system
- the use of data science and medical informatics concepts for the development of AI-supported laboratory medical decision-making systems
Project work
The Institute supports the development of scientific interest among students and constantly offers a wide variety of topics for scientific research work within the framework of MaReCuM.
