In our group, we work on various aspects of Cardiovascular Systems Biology (CVSB).
Systems biology has revolutionized how modern researchers approach the study of disease. Cardiovascular Systems Biology is a novel biology-based inter-disciplinary field of study that focuses on complex interactions within the Cardiovascular System. In particular, it uses more holistic approaches to biological and biomedical research. At the UMM, we focus particularly on translational approaches with potential added value for cardiovascular diagnosis and therapy.
Some showcase studies are how mechanisms of CardioImmunology affect common diseases such as chronic or acute coronary artery disease, AI-based approaches to study coronary artery diseases collateralization or to improve interventional therapies by identifying disease-associated mechanisms, markers and network signatures.
