The Institute for Clinical Chemistry (IKC) has been comprehensively and continuously accredited according to DIN EN ISO 15189 since 2004 and is listed as an accredited medical laboratory by the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) since 2011.
The accreditation covers the DAkkS defined testing areas of 'clinical chemistry', 'immunology', 'human genetics', 'microbiology' and 'virology'. The accreditation in the area of "patient-oriented immediate testing" (POCT), which has been in place since 2019, also includes quality responsibility for the performance of diagnostics on wards, in outpatient clinics and in the intervention rooms* of the University Hospital Mannheim. In the field of molecular genetic diagnostics, accreditation was granted in 2023 for the analysis of circulating nucleic acids in tumour diseases (ctDNA) and for whole exome sequencing (WES).
