My research currently revolves around expanding the understanding of regulated cell death pathways, theis mechanism of action and ways to target these pathways using small molecules. Although inhibitors of ferroptosis and necroptosis have been reported, no compound has been shown to effectively cure pathophysiological conditions like acute kidney injury, ischemia/reperfusion injury and solid organ transplantation. It is still unclear if and how ferroptosis and necroptosisare interconnected in the different disease settings and elucidating potential connections among these pathways is what I am interested in.
