Necroptosis and ferroptosis - two independent cell death pathways that have distinct features – have been shown to contribute to organ damage in pathological settings such as acute kidney injury (AKI). Targeting both pathways by a combined inhibitor may be an effective treatment and would hold great promise for preventing excessive tissue damage. My research focuses on the development and improvement of a combined inhibitor of ferroptosis and necroptosis with the aim to expand the therapeutical bandwidth for clinical implications in which regulated cell death is involved.

Currently, I am also supporting the scientific outreach of the lab.

Research interests:

  • Ferroptosis

  • Cell death inhibition

  • Xenotransplantation
